Third World came into earshot with their rendition of an OJ's song, Now That We Found Love, a 1978 radio hit. Immediately, I knew there was something different about this band.
If Bob Marley can be considered the King of Reggae; then I suggest that Third World be its Godfather. Their Soul and R&B infused Reggae with Bunny Rugs' rich soulful voice are a testament to this title. Moreover, their collaboration with Stevie Wonder to create/record You're Playing Us Too Close and Try Jah Love places them in the pantheon of Reggae's elites. Judge for yourselves; the result of which can be heard below.
Sadly William Clarke aka Bunny Rugs, the lead singer, passed away in early 2014. His unique voice and deeply soulful delivery cannot be replicated. Therefore, I will be attending not to compare but to celebrate how this once great group helped to enrich my soul.
