From back sleeve:
During his seven years as a Riverside recording artist, Bill Evans (1929-1980) established himself as one of the most important pianists in jazz history, premiered several of his classic original compositions and signature numbers, and introduced a new approach to the jazz trio that forever altered the way rhythm sections interact. This collection covers all of those bases in a most unique way -- with Evans friend and producer Orrin Keepnews selecting a track from each of the pianist's albums, then adding commentary to place the music in context. Cannonball Adderley, Jim Hall, Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian, and Zoot Sims are among the featured artists in what is an ideal introduction to Evans' art.
CD is packaged in a clear jewel case which includes an 8-page foldout booklet with notes by Orrin Keepnews.
