Composed in Garmisch in July 1909 and performed on 9 December 1909, this work is dedicated to Prince Frederich of Prussia, master of the Knights of St John of Balley-Brandenburg. The fanfare is scored for 12 trumpets, 3 solo trumpets, 4 horns, 4 trombones, 2 bass tubas and timpani.
