Contrary to what it says on the cover (“recorded LIVE at the Royal Albert Hall, London”), not all songs were recorded live and none at the Albert Hall.
The live tracks are reported to have been recorded at City Hall, Newcastle (October 1, 1966) and Colston Hall, Bristol (October 7). According to Bill Wyman some overdubs were added later (at IBC Studios, London).
The song list on the autumn 1966 UK package tour was too short to make a full album. Consequently studio recordings with overdubbed live audience were added, “I’ve been loving you too long” and “Fortune Teller”, from 1965 and 1963 respectively. Unedited versions of both studio tracks are available on “More Hot Rocks” (the latter only on the extended version of that compilation). Recorded live at Royal Albert Hall, London
