"Hell On Church Street is a group re-imagining of Tony Rice's solo masterpiece, Church Street Blues. No record (or musician) has had a greater impact on us, and we felt compelled to cover it in its entirety, with the objective of interacting with it in the same spirit of respect-fueled adventure that Tony brought to each of its 12 pre-existing songs. We went into the studio in November of 2020, on month before Tony's unexpected passing on Christmas Day. We were very excited to share the results with him, but sadly we didn't get the chance. Instead we humbly and reverently dedicate this album to our hero and friend, Tony Rice."
