notes

Recorded live in Théâtre Le Palace, Paris on December 26 [track 1-9], 27 [tracks 1-3, 2-2, 2-6, 2-11, 2-14] & 28 [tracks 1-1, 1-2, 1-4 to 1-8, 1-10, 2-1, 2-3 to 2-5, 2-7 to 2-10, 2-13, 2-14, 2-15], 1979.

This an entirely new mix of the complete concert, different from the original mix released in 1980, which was by all means a rush job and way incomplete (ten tracks only).

Several previously unreleased tracks are featured here, including alternate versions of 'Harley Davidson,' 'Elle est si,' an instrumental improvisation on 'Relax Baby Be Cool,' and extra versions of 'Aux armes et cætera' and 'Lola rastaquouère' (encore). Two previously unreleased interview excerpts — about the French national anthem and Gainsbourg's love for Black people — are also included, as well as much memorabilia, pictures and extensive booklet notes by Gainsbourg expert Gilles Verlant. This is easily the best Serge Gainsbourg live album. It has been reissued in the Super DeLuxe book/3 CD set 'Gainsbourg and the Revolutionaries' (without the interviews). Dub versions of this live album are available on Super DeLuxe book/3 CD set 'Gainsbourg in Dub'.
