From Sleevenotes:
Tracks 1-1 to 1-9 originally issued as Epic KE32561 (label rights were transferred to Capitol Records in 1979), June 1974; #4 Pop/#1 R&B. Discographies list this album as released August 9, but the trades from the era show the LP being reviewed in the first week of June, then added at various FM stations as early as the second week of June. Minnie was “debuted†to the industry at a show at the Troubador in Los Angeles during the last week in July 1974. US Copyright Office's Catalog of Copyright Entries for 1974 gives the original date of publication (i.e. release date) as 24 May 1974.
In this version, as in some other versions of this release, the appearance of
Stevie Wonder in the Performance Credits is signified by (*) with a footnote referring to
El Toro Negro, an alias adopted him during his work on this album, as a precaution against possible repercussions from Motown to which he was contracted at the time. In this release the footnote is not in the sleeve notes/credits and as such are uncredited on this specific release, although clearly the intention is to credit
El Toro Negro.
Stevie Wonder is directly credited in the sleeve notes as a performer for tracks 2-3, 2-4, 2-8 and 2-10.
