SAFAR (travel in Arabic) is the album of a generation of artists who knows no borders, sees no socio-economic contrasts and considers talent as the sole truth. Who values melody more than language. Attitude more than words
In Morocco, a new rap scene is disrupting the country's art and media landscape. It is, furthered by the energy of a youth that remain stuck between a traditional society that denies them their own space and oppressive social conditions, both often leading them towards forced exile.
By bringing together these 32 artists in one album performed half in Darija, NAAR hopes to make this movement travel beyond the Moroccan borders. This artistic crossing, parallel to the one - often deadly - that thousands of young Moroccans attempt each year, is fueled with the hopes and the confidence of a generation of artists who fear nothing.
