Universal Nut (1995; tracks 1–27)
Originally released on cassette only in October 1995. Songs 1–19 and 27 were recorded to four-track between June and August 1995 at 31 High Street, New Haven, CT. Songs 20–26 were recorded in September 1995 at 106 Exchange Street, New Haven, CT. Remixed to CD in Princeton, NJ, on June 5, 2000. Lead vocals on “Jake’s Interlude” and backup vocals on “Christy Pickle (reprise)” by Jake Fournier. Lead vocals and barking on “Bad Dog” by Merritt Lear. Due to space considerations, “Xantippe,” “Sexy Swineherder,” and “Her Shotgun Life” have been omitted from the original release.

New England Music (1996; tracks 28-55)
Originally released on cassette only in May 1996. Songs 28–38 were recorded at 106 Exchange Street, New Haven, CT, between September 1995 and February 1996. Songs 39–55 were recorded at 411 Union Street, Brooklyn, NY, April and May 1996. Remixed to CD in Princeton, NJ, on June 7, 2000. Guest musician: Drew Margolin, lead and harmony awe in “Vorion Promises a Spectacle of Power.” Drew Margolin appears courtesy of Mezzanine. “Vorion Promises a Spectacle of Power” features excerpts from a speech by Vorion, a rocket-car/peaceful alien visitor who happened to have been sent to the New Haven Coliseum Monster Truck Rally to deliver his message on the Power of Dreams. Due to space considerations, “Rangement Verticale,” “The Lord of the Empty Beer Bottles,” “Day After Day,” “Harmonica I,” “Leeza Has Been Briefed on Slack,” “This Is a Beer Ad,” and “Blue Moon” have been omitted from the original release.

Personnel Envelo-file (1997; tracks 56–83)
Originally released on cassette only in February 1997. All of these songs were recorded between June 1, 1996 and February 1, 1997 at 411 Union Street, Brooklyn, NY. Remixed to CD in Princeton, NJ, on June 9, 2000. Due to space considerations, “Chimney Climbers,” “High Falutin’ Cowboy,” “Quaran-Teen,” “The Voice,” “Liz Phair Is in My Spit Chain,” “St. Joan,” and “Coming to the Chorus” have been omitted from the original release.

Thunderegg (1997; tracks 84–108)
Originally released on cassette only in November 1997. Songs 84–88 were recorded at 411 Union Street, Brooklyn, NY, February to April 1997. Songs 89–95 were recorded at 81 Cleveland Lane, Princeton, NJ, June and July 1997. Songs 96–108 were recorded at 510 West 110th Street, New York, NY, September to November 1997. Remixed to CD in Princeton, NJ, on June 9, 2000. Due to space considerations, “Ephemeral 97,” “Jetlag,” “She Sells Seashells,” and “What Was I Gonna Do?” have been omitted from the original release.

Powder to the People (1998; tracks 109–143)
Originally released in limited quantities, for internal use only, in August 1998. All songs were
recorded to four-track July and August 1998 at 510 West 110th Street, New York, NY, except for “Theme for Meat Preparation,” which was recorded there in October 1997. Mixed to CD in Princeton, NJ, on May 11, 2000. Some song titles have been changed since the original album release.

In Yanistin (2000; tracks 144–186)
Originally released in September 2000. Tracks 158, 162, 185, and portions of 168 and 172 were recorded between September 1998 and March 1999 at 2790 Broadway, New York, NY. Songs 145–148 were recorded there to four-track during that same period. Spoken portion of 185 was recorded at 52 Webster Avenue, New Rochelle, NY, October 1999. Track 144 was recorded at Katie Dutton’s home in Darien, CT, in January 2000. Songs 149–157 and 159–161 were recorded to four-track at 81 Cleveland Lane, Princeton, NJ, February and March 2000. Songs 163–169 and 171–186 were recorded there in July and August 2000. Song 170 was recorded on Sherman Street in Hartford, CT, in August 2000. Some song titles have been changed since the original album release.

The Envelope Pushes Back (2000; tracks 187–202)
Originally released in October 2000. Songs 188, 190, 196, and 201 were recorded at 81 Cleveland Lane, Princeton, NJ, May and June 2000. Songs 191, 193–195, and 197–200 were recorded at 46 Pocomo Road, Nantucket, MA, September 2000. Songs 189, 192, and 202 were recorded at 510 West 110th Street, New York, NY, 1998. Song 187 was recorded at 357 Edgecombe Avenue, New York, NY, October 2000. “Again I Felt Rich” was previously released on Powder to the People.

Sweetest One: Three-Track Demos (2004; tracks 203–214)
All songs previously unreleased. Song 212 was recorded at 357 Edgecombe Avenue, New York, NY, December 2000. Songs 203, 205, 208, and 211 were recorded at 46 Pocomo Road, Nantucket, MA, October 2002; songs 204, 206, 209–210, and 213–214 were recorded there in August 2004. Song 207 was recorded at 851 Carroll Street, Brooklyn, NY, March 2003. Song 214 was also partially recorded on the 49th Street N/R platform sometime in 2001, and Keith Woodfin added drums in September 2004 in the basement of 180 Springdale Road, Princeton, NJ. All of these songs were recorded to the Tascam Porta07 four-track, but with one track left open in anticipation of adding drums later. This may happen yet.
