From album notes:
Guitarist and composer, Fuzz (Deep Banana Blackout, Caravan of Thieves) teamed up with musical comrades David Shuman (bass) and Marc Balling (drums) in the spring of ’99 to produce an album which started as an impromptu session date in Hartford, CT. A fun day in the studio quickly turned into a full blown production after Fuzz invited a few of his friends down. One by one, the innovative DJ Logic, Sun Ra and Kool and the Gang trumpet master Michael Ray, aberrant vocalist Dean Bowman, organ masters Nate Wilson and Barry Seelen, Deep Banana Blackout horns Rob Somerville and Volo, as well as few other soul mates all marched in to deliver a combination of spontaneous magic and spot on execution of Fuzz’s arrangements and compositions. In addition, several choice jazz classics such as Charlie Parker’s “Bloomdido”, Benny Goodman’s “Seven Come Eleven” and Wes Montgomery’s “Four on Six” found their way into the room along with the inevitable random improvisation or two and the outcome was “BgocK!”, a twelve track retro jazz, funk, experimental groove album that earned its title from the playfulness of the performances and mood throughout the session.
Fuzz’s pursuit of various musical projects following this release eventually resulted in an album out of print, but not out of mind, as many fans of this unique and special recording have continued to seek it out. So he decided to bring it back into circulation after many years of it living in the vault, and it stands the test of time, as it was and still remains deep rooted in the tradition and spirit of early jazz while keeping a devoted eye on the future of music.
