Recorded in 1979. The music was originally intended for release on Columbia Records, but that plan fell through when the label dropped most of its jazz roster. The tapes were presumed lost until a backup master was uncovered by the original engineer.

The barcode is on a sticker attached to the back of the bifold sleeve.
