Yet another stellar collection of jukebox classics, several expertly created with DES, distributed by Eric Records.
22 of the 29 titles on this release are being made available for the first time in stereo, which include the correct hit single versions of “Tossin’ And Turnin’ by Bobby Lewis, “Amen” by The Impressions, “Big Bad John” by Jimmy Dean and “Goldfinger” by Shirley Bassey, as well as the <original> recordings of “The Twist,” “Let’s Twist Again” and James Brown’s groundbreaking “Out of Sight,” all in wide stereo.
The engineers have all meticulously compared all these great records to their original vinyl singles to match the exact speed and edits heard on the radio, and then added true multi-dimensional stereo!
From the booklet:
"Stereo was so novel in 1958 that Columbia Records introduced a program called "Stereo Is Hear" in which they provided a kit -- at cost -- to record dealers, which consisted of a stereo turntable, two portable speakers, and a stack of stereo phonograph records. The special "Educator" model accommodated six pairs of earphones and, with an adapter, could accommodate twelve pairs. the idea behind the program was that consumers who experienced stereo sound would be so transported by its depth and realism that they wold feel compelled to invest in a stereo system of their own.
This compilation is, in many ways, like the "Stereo Is Hear" program; by listening to the new stereo mixes in this collection, you'll be experiencing stereo -- at least in the context of these particular recordings -- for the first time ever. Our hope is that they'll thrill and amaze you in the same way the stereo thrilled first-time listeners in the 1950s and you'll feel compelled to collect all the volumes to come!"
Comes with a 12 page color booklet insert and track-by-track notation.
