14ème album de Lavilliers, ce Clair-Obscur est publié alors que Bernard est à l'Olympia du 10 au 14 février. Nourri dès les années 60 de salsa, de reggae et de rock, Lavilliers y reste – une fois de plus – fidèle. À ce propos, le premier single de l'album qui sera choisi, "Le Venin", est un reggae surprenant accompagné d'un violon. Pour le reste, l'album s'ouvre sur "Préface", un texte de Léo Ferré que le Stéphanois a mis en musique. C'est la deuxième fois qu'il chante Ferré après "Est-ce ainsi que les hommes vivent" (en 1980), un poème d'Aragon mis en musique par le grand Léo. Père de famille (il a eu quatre enfants de femmes différentes), Lavilliers peut compter désormais sur son fils musicien pour l'épauler.
