Due to lost or damaged masters, the PKD/Simulacra compilation was composed of remixes, alternative versions and original masters when available. The PKD and Holy Moly re-issues have been mastered directly from vinyl, recapturing the original recordings as they were experienced when first issued. There was a decision not to use noise reduction in the process of transferring these recordings to a digital source, allowing the sonic properties of the vinyl to be heard. Because of that decision, there is evidence of surface noise at times - but the integrity of the original recordings is preserved. These re-issues are an archival document and complete PKD Simulacra.
