Garden District Trio, Then and Now
For over nine years David has been performing with his Garden District Trio seven nights a week at Houston’s Restaurant on St. Charles Avenue. While the specific lineup may vary from night to night, this recording is an outstanding representation of the high end swing, groove, and feel that the Trio presents every night.
David first began performing with Richard Moten in a jazz trio setting in 1992, where they performed together for over two years. Richard has always been a very in-demand bassist by countless New Orleans artists, and he travels to Europe and Japan regularly on tour with many of the best musicians from our city.
Featured and introduced on Piano, Jordan Baker is a newcomer to the music scene and is a recent graduate from the University of New Orleans, with a Master’s degree in jazz studies. His classical education has given him a foundation that transitions smoothly into his jazz performance.
The arrangements are a collaboration worked out by each member of this trio on familiar standards and present a refreshing interpretation on these timeless compositions. Throughout July and August 2015, the album was recorded and mixed at the Music Shed Studios in New Orleans, with the final track selections mastered in Berkeley, CA by George R. Horn. Jordan, Richard, and David enjoyed recording their combined talent and now present this music to you.
