This compact disc celebrates both the 1966 founding of the Center for New Music at the University of Iowa, and the many accomplishments of this the oldest and most successful among such collegiate ventures in the United States. The current recording represents the fifth such venture since the Center's inception. The composers have all been affiliated with the School of Music at the University of Iowa in one capacity or another: three are long-standing faculty members, two others received Ph.D's in composition from Iowa; and the sixth was a visiting assistant professor during the Center's anniversary year.
