About the album title...Reading about witches, looking for creative inspiration, we came across some feminist theory discussing 16th and 17th European witch hunts being implicit in the rise of capitalism (wherein women are a means to birth a workforce) and at the root of traditional "women's roles" as they exist today. At that time, there were many learned women-profound thinkers, scientists, doctors, midwives, herbalists-with vast knowledge and, therefore, power. And as a means of control, these women were labeled "witches," deemed evil, and murdered en masse, and with them their collective knowledge was lost.

The term "spoil + destroy" is taken from a witch-hunting manual that, to paraphrase, states that even good witches who do not "spoil and destroy, but save and deliver" should be killed. That resonated with us-the idea that, as a woman, your achievements are irrelevant because of your gender. And, taken at its face value, "spoil + destroy" reflects many of the themes we feel in our lives-the times when everything seems shitty, regardless of how hard you try. But it doesn't have to be this way:

"You know you got what they want-don't let 'em fuck it up, don't let 'em silence you."
