NOTES

REVIEW FROM BRUCE LEE GALLANTER. DOWNTOWN MUSIC GALLERY,NY:
"This is a solo project by Mr. G.L. Diana on live electronics, sound manipulation & a bit of piano with Patrick Holmes & Bojan Z. on reeds, Porra-Boy on flutes & slide and Lisa Dowling on double bass. Last Sunday (1/9/11), Mr. Diana played here at DMG (for the second appearance) with Frederika Krier on violin and again blew some minds with his/their unique electronics/improv. This time GL has left us with an interesting mostly solo offering with guests just on 1 or 2 tracks each. You can tell that a good deal of time and preparation went into the making of this disc since each sound is so carefully crafted and placed in the mix. On "Brooklyn Dancing Bedbugs", it sounds like old-school analog synth (slightly altered) used in an effective & repetitive way. There are a series of duos called "Cristalli Sonori and..." with clarinet, bass and voice. Mr. Diana manipulates each instrument subtly adding minimal electronic spice. The duos with classically trained contrabassist Lisa Dowling (from Blurboxer) are especially enchanting. For "21 Disgusting America" the alien voices are somewhat disorienting as are the ancient synth sounds. The instruments often resonate and sound as if they were submerged in a warm ocean of soft, eerie sounds, everything is floating in a stream. By the time this disc was over I felt as if I had been transported to another place, resting on a raft and watching modern life slowly unfold... moving through different dream-spaces." - Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery
