The album is divided into two parts; a 12-tracks titled "Black Album" and 13-tracks titled "White Album". Johnson explained his reasoning, saying "The original idea was always to do a double album," says Johnson. "It is an album that is a tale. The first part is a very dark and sordid story. Then everything after that is progressively more positive, reassuring and redemptive."
The Guitar Song 3-Disc LP Configuration includes 1-black, 1-white, & 1-Split black & White vinyl pieces and a 12x12" custom lyric book.
