"“Tambour inopiné” (sudden drum) lies in the continuity of my ongoing quest for the joy long lost in traditional Persian music ‑ even though it has endured in certain regions of Iran. This search becomes all the more important when considering how the present government has been rejecting joy. Thirty-five years of this regime have led most musicians to produce only tears and laments, quite unconsciously. Worse still, most listeners have only requested this kind of music for the very same reasons. I hope that along with my former albums, this ‘sudden drum’ can be a small step towards changing this feeling." Beautiful.
