"From my songs “Acid” to “Blackwinged Bird”, I have always felt that the ballad communicates more of who I am. I even found it necessary to turn perfectly rockin’ anthems like Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and The Clash’s “Straight To Hell” into orchestral ballads. I felt the pull to start writing again this year, and decided to make an album that goes deeper than my cheery pop song repertoire.

This project began a few weeks ago with a song called “Forest Fires” and just recently a song called “Desperate Lengths”. These, and the songs yet-to-be-written, will be ones that I dive deep into, and that you can escape into. I was inspired by the song “The End of Me”, which appeared on my last album. After writing it, it quickly became a favourite for me, and was also covered by a few of you. Joe Corcoran, who produced “Torrential”, will produce again, adding his magic to these songs in a way that lets them breathe, speak and come to life.

I also reviewed my album “Girl Versions” which is the only album I recorded singing and playing piano at the same time. I feel this is a necessary approach this time to give the songs the life and feel they need.

There never seems to be rest for my heart and mind! I hope this album will be one of my best. I can assure you, it will be one of my most sincere.
