According to the National Alliance of Mental Illness, anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concerns in the United States. Over forty million adults have an anxiety disorder, however, close to 75% of them either don't know they have it or refuse to seek treatment. All these disorders have one thing in common: persistent, excessive fear or worry in situations that are not threatening.
The author has spent a lifetime suffering and battling an anxiety disorder. Having spent time in therapy and participated in some supplemental therapeutic treatments to understand and receive healing for her anxiety, she has learned that these disorders are characterized by secrets. Shame keeps people from sharing their secrets and seeking treatment. She also learned that there are not a lot of books, particularly faith-based books, on anxiety. Most of what is available tends to be academic or medical resources not intended for the average sufferer who wants to know that he/she is not alone.
This book is a compilation of twenty-five years of journal writings, blog posts, notes from therapy, and lessons learned as God has taken the author on a healing journey--specifically a healing from anxiety.
