The year 2020 started off like any other year. In the eyes of Cheryle, this meant more pain. For seven years she tried to get rid of the unwelcomed guest that never left her side called Trigeminal Neuralgia, the suicide disease. She even had brain surgery and took staggering amounts of medication. Nothing worked. The medical field gave up on her. What she didn't know was that God was taking her through this journey of pain and transforming her heart in the process. Cheryle discovered that she had wounds deeper than physical pain. The wounds of unforgiveness from past hurts were festering inside of her. She didn't even realize she had so much unforgiveness for herself due to being caught up in perfectionism. "How could anyone love me?," she thought. You see, she thought love was something earned, something that you needed to be perfect to receive. God's freely given love was so hard to grasp. It wasn't until one day that God gave her a great grace that she saw things in a new light and came to terms with her illness. She learned about redemptive suffering and offered God all of her pain. Mary, the mother of God became her mother, guiding her to Jesus. Then it happened, a Lenten journey like no other. It was March 6th of 2020. Cheryle went to a retreat with a famous priest visiting. Her life changed dramatically that night. She was freed!!
