At an early age, my father passed down his love of baseball to me. What he could not pass down were the deep wounds the game would bring into my life. In August of 2014, my all-African American Little League team from Chicago competed and won at every level of competition. My team won every game in sectional, district, state, and regional competitions qualifying us to advance to the Little league World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Competing in the Little League World Series is the dream of every young baseball player. Our coaches always told us to approach every day as an opportunity to learn and that this baseball experience would not be any different. However, even with a good foundation both on and off the field, nothing could ever prepare a young player to have all their earned wins taken away including their World Series Championship Title. America's favorite pastime revealed that baseball really is the game of failure, good thing there is always a new day to play a new game. Through this book, I hope to share this message. You are a champion, and you have what it takes to win, no matter what curveball, life throws at you.
