description
4This book, to draw upon an ancient Greek form, is a kind of enchiridion, a handbook or set of maxims for theologians, preachers, and educators in one Christian community, the Catholic Church, about how to continue deepening the rapprochement with Jews. There are several reasons for this Catholic focus. Not only is its author Catholic, and so most familiar with the pertinent developments in his own community, but over the past decades Catholic teaching authorities have issued hundreds of texts that have in a steady and mutually reinforcing fashion--and with the aid of many Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant scholars--incrementally formed a multifaceted theological superstructure concerning the Catholic relationship to Jews and Judaism. +
