1If you are looking for a book to read that uses big words that need a dictionary or thesaurus to understand their meaning then God Moments In Time is not for you. However, if you are looking for a book to read that is simple, yet profound then this is a book for you. There are few books that can be read in basically one sitting. You will be captivated by the nuggets that Thomas Brewer brings to the surface in the Scriptures, but even more captivated in how he moved from thousands of years ago to present day life situations that we as Christians can apply to our lives. For example, in chapter five, one nugget was drawn from Genesis 24:10-20. This is the story of Rebekah drawing water for the camels of Abraham's servant sent to find a wife for Isaac. It was pointed out that there were most likely 10 camels and that a camel drinks up to twenty-five gallons of water each day. Rebekah physically drew up with a jug, approximately 250 gallons of water, for the servant's camels. The point in the story was to show the extraordinary kindness of Rebekah to a stranger. The chapter ends with a challenge that we can and should show kindness to strangers we meet every day. Throughout the entire book you will learn interesting and insightful facts about biblical culture and customs, but will be shown the practical application to your life through these insights. At the end of the book there are five questions for each chapter. Some of the questions will take you back to the Bible and others will challenge and motivate you in your personal walk with the Lord. God Moments in Time coupled with the questions at the end of the book would make an excellent six week small group study. Too often today Christian speakers and authors take a small portion of the Scriptures and shape the text to meet a perceived need in the lives of individuals. This type of speaking and writing takes little if any time to help the believer understand the Scriptures, but uses the Scriptures to jump off into what could be found in any secular self help section of bookstores. This does not happen in God Moments In Time. It takes you back to the story of Abraham's servant in Genesis 24 and teaches you how God uses events in life that can become doors of opportunity that shape not only your lives, but the lives of countless individuals many of whom you may never meet. God Moments In Time will not only help you recognize God moments, but will teach you how you can live a life that allows you to experience God moments on an everyday basis. It is refreshing to read a book that uses Scripture as the beginning and the end in teaching us how to open doors of opportunity through everyday events in our lives.
