As many French-Algerian boys, Zinedine Zenoud was named after illustrious French-Algerian soccer star Zinedine Zidane. Unfortunately, Zenoud was stricken with a unique curse when his parents committed horrific and historic acts of terrorism in his formative years. Zizou was left to be raised by his grandfather in the slums of Paris. Zinedine's grandfather had one wish for his late son: to see him play professional soccer. Zinedine's complicated condition and determination bring him face-to-face with his parents' past as well as his own destiny in this contemporary coming of age saga.
