description
testimony to the life of the preeminent Palestinian poetess - Fadwa Tuqan - and to the sincere love that enfolds her beauty, her translucent fragility, and her sensitive vision, and to her surroundings in a turbulent age rife with events, lies, and losses. It is therefore unacceptable to keep these love letters in a drawer secreted to oblivion or into the ashes of burned records. Nothing in these letters denigrates Fadwa's image or offends her great symbolic personality. Rather, they enlarge her in our mind, strengthen our pride in her, and rekindle our longing to hear her voice once again. And so, with this collection, we discover new aspects of her personal and emotional life, as well as her poetic style, borne out of curiosity and without regret.
