NORTH STAR...America's last Great Wooden Ship was a wooden icebreaker/cargo/passenger combo Built in Seattle's Ballard district for the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs to supply remote native/eskimo villages that dot the coast of Alaska from Ketchikan to Point Barrow. This wooden icebreaker navigated many of the world's most challenging at both ends of the earth and served in the U.S. Coast Guard's Greenland Patrol during World War II.

NORTH STAR is the most complete account of this historic ship, wih many never-before-told details from its construction and maiden voyage to it's final tragic end as Estrelle del Norte. With over 90 unique photos and custom maps North Star was in the Arctic, Antarctic, Pacific and Atlantic ocea ns all within a twelve month period, all at a top speed of 12 knots.
