0Book-authority, ranked this book at #11 in Best Bipolar Disorder books of all time, and #6 in 2020's best Bipolar books. Dr. Lauren Goodall, was extremely pleased to get this type of recognition in the book arena. Please disregard reviews that the book is full of mispellings. The book has been professionally edited twice. This is what a purchaser wrote, in her words, about the book, and was kind enough to offer it as an authorized review for use. "A must read for struggling with bipolar/depression/anxiety. I will start by saying I never do reviews, but I really do hope that this will help someone make the decision to read this book. I have struggled for over 10+ years with bipolar 2, depression, and anxiety mixed with some adhd, and probably some ocd lol. As anyone who deals with a mental health problem, you know what I'm talking about when I say it's a struggle. Not only for us but our loved ones as well, for me that means my husband and kids. I believe in coincidences and me finding this book came at a time where I feel I was at my lowest. I had seen my psych NP, we were changing my meds trying some new and ofcourse, I get the talk, "you really need to find a therapist" (eye roll from me). Nope. I am not a therapy kinda gal. I don't want to keep reliving my past over and over. It's just not me. Soooo back to the subject. I was at the point something was needed to give my anger and other emotions, was hurting the people I love and it made me feel terrible. I want to change just didn't know how. Because I truly believe when you aren't happy with who you are then you really can't make others happy, not because you don't want to, because there is so much going on inside us. This book has really opened my eyes and given me the hope that after all these years I can make the adjustments needed to the way I think and to be happy and not be a slave to my own mind anymore. I also let my husband read some excerpts on certain topics andThis book is good for understanding mood dysregulation of any kind. Whether it's depression, anxiety, or some combination of both that has you puzzled, this is a quick guide to better understanding. Dr. Goodall has a doctorate in clinical psychology, and has run private practices for the last 25 years. This book is designed to help people, ask better questions, and more importantly get better answers from their practitioners. In order to understand something, you have to see how it presents live. She has great mini insights to help you understand foundational pieces. Most importantly, most of which is fixable, and improvable, once you are clear in understanding what is ailing you, and what are the culprits. Many people are just unaware of where to search, or are getting misinformation, so they spend many years not feeling much better. Psychology explains inner dynamics that fuel mood dysregulation. This is meant to be a foundational piece of Psychology and Biology and how they come together. Most importantly, it's a book of hope, and a book of understanding. Dr. Goodall has been in the diagnosis business. She disputes many overbearing diagnosis, and looks for the important parts. She feels that many people get overdiagnosed with multiple diagnosis, which often results in multiple medications. Less is more. She uses the research, but she believes that her clients are better at the accuracy factor. She has been persistent and dogmatic in simplifying. The book has small sections that are very readable. She doesn't try to make it overly complicated. Dr. Goodall also explores natural supplements that assist in mood dysregulation. She's not big on labels, but more interested in finding what works. As a Psychologist, she understands the sources of pain. She explores the Psychological undermining that people face on a day to day basis. If you or your family members have been suffering, she is here to set your eyes on a different path.
