Over the next 100 years, Westmont grew into a place known for its small-town charm and close-knit community. Over the course of its history, the "Progressive Village" would find itself tied to the Great Chicago Fire, Prohibition, the godfather of Chicago blues music, and the international Beanie Babies craze. It is a town that has thrived on community involvement, from its humble beginnings with an all-volunteer fire department to its current reputation for having some of the best volunteer-led events in all of Chicagoland.
