4Barry Manilow, born Barry Alan Pincus, on June 17th, 1943, Brooklyn, New York, U.S., is a singer-songwriter, arranger, pianist, theatrical and music producer, with a career that has spanned more than 50 years. His hit records include "Mandy", "Could It Be Magic", "Bermuda Triangle", "Can't Smile Without You", and "Copacabana (At the Copa)". Barry recorded and released 47 Top 40 singles, including 12 that hit # 1, with 27 making the top ten, having issued many multi-platinum albums. Although not a favourite with music critics, Manilow has been praised by fellow entertainers including Frank Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s as saying, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Barry at a party, hugged him then said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you". As well as producing & arranging L.Ps for other artists, including Bette Midler and Dionne Warwick, Manilow has written & performed songs for musicals, films, and commercials for corporations including McDonald's, Pepsi-Cola & Band-Aid sticking plaster, from the 1960s. Barry's been nominated for Grammy Awards as a producer, arranger and performer 15 times & in every decade from 1973 to 2015, having won just once. He's sold more than 80 million records worldwide.
