A celebration of a dozen of the extraordinary therapy dogs working in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Here, truly, is a calendar of inspiration and hope. We all remember the horrifying news story: On February 14th, 2018, a gunman entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida . . . But in the aftermath of that tragedy something different happened. Comfort, solace, and healing came to the survivors from an unexpected source: a team of therapy dogs. In fact, these dogs became so integral to the school community that they were given their own page in the yearbook.
Dogs Who Heal spotlights these canine heroes in poignant portraits accompanied by quotes from students describing how they were helped by each dog. The calendar includes an essay on the therapy dogs' impact by teacher Sarah Lerner, editor of Parkland Speaks, as well as a compilation of student works about their experiences in the aftermath of the shooting. As uplifting as the calendar is, it also has a practical benefit: A portion of sales will be donated to the nonprofit Canine Assisted Therapy. Printed on FSC-certified paper.
