February 3, 1985 - 6:30 p.m. - Alliance Community Church - Elk River, Minnesota
Most of us have dates that stand out in our minds marking significant events in our lives. For me, this night was a life-changing event, as this was the night I forgave my mother for leaving our family.
Reverend Tom Kyle was an Evangelist with the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and was the guest speaker. His focus that evening was on forgiveness-toward a family member, a friend, a brother, sister, parent-forgiveness. I've always been amazed that I could remember where I was sitting that night, and even remember what I was wearing!
Toward the end of the message, Rev. Kyle held an altar call. Before he even finished the invitation, I fled to the front of the church where I cried away years of stale living and finally, finally forgave my mother. This was, indeed, my life changer.
At the end of the service, Reverend Kyle had us turn in our Bibles to Luke 6:37-38 and write the following. For me, it was this...
"February 3, 1985-Today I forgave my mother for everything."
Here's my story...
