Dread spirals on a faraway planet called Aplex, as Jeni witnesses a mysterious explosion over her refugee camp.

Throughout the night, Jeni has to survive the Kovian Empire's assault on the planet and her camp while a group of Kovians led by a madman chase her down. Playing games with the madman, Jeni takes on his ordeals, while also figuring out the truth of the explosion and the intentions of the Kovian Empire.

In Aftershock, by Damien Rivera, we experience the life of one of the many people within this universe, the consequences of outside forces, and how many people are affected by them.
