A girl born in the back woods of a small town in Georgia before World War II, Edna learns what it's like to be poor and not even know it. She doesn't know she's being discriminated against. She doesn't realize there are countries who want to take her country away from the people, or country to whom it belongs.
She doesn't know there is a different lifestyle out there in the world, much like the one her grandfather preached and taught his biological family, and church family to avoid patterning after.
Things you don't know may hurt you if you become involved to an extent greater than what you ought. Be careful with your life . . . it is precious!
