This story is about Jorge Moya Trevino, the challenges that struck his family after the death of his father-Concepcion Trevino, their patriarch. Jorge, his brother, and two remaining sisters were all forced to go to work at a young age, at a time when benefits, welfare, and social security were not yet available. Jorge's brother, Eddie, quit school and joined the US Army, while Jorge began shining shoes, selling newspapers, and picking cotton.
