6Five-year-old Jack is very busy exploring his new neighborhood which includes a truck farm. He wonders if a truck farm actually grows trucks? Surely that would be odd! One day, Silas moves into the neighborhood. Jack is anxious to see what his new neighbor is like. It turns out that they have much in common, especially their curious natures, and the two soon become great friends. Every day is an adventure as they create a witches' den in Silas' cellar; have a sleepover on Halloween night and visit a haunted house; discover Johnny Fitzgerald digging up worms to put in his PB&J sandwich; watch the first TV in the neighborhood; and encounter Georgie Littlefield, the mean bully next door, who causes Jack, Silas and his sister, Ruthie, to take a trip to the hospital.
