In a small country in West Africa, Kula lives a sheltered life as a child with her parents at home and the nuns at Saint Mary's Boarding School. Her world changes when her teenage years become complicated, as she becomes the head of the family after the death of her parents.
She encounters a host of challenges, including having to work as a maid, but her indomitable spirit draws strength from
what lies hidden deep within her and her Christian faith. She eventually meets Abbass, who marries her, but he commits bigamy against her after a twenty-year marriage, and through this she suffers rejection and abandonment.
These experiences ignite her ambition, and she sets out to prove that her life is still worth living. She rises out of the ashes of her disappointment, stripping off what is unimportant. She focuses her energy into transforming herself and making the most important decision of her life: that is embarking on a dream long deferred that will lead her to a great destiny.
