Parents, try engaging your autistic children based on some principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
Children must have some control over the direction of their learning: empower them to have a voice, be creative in influencing this by viewing social media, attend support groups, and asking siblings for their input.
Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing. Do not be afraid to allow your autistic child to discover the world at their capacity. Encourage it.
Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that they must be allowed to explore.
Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
