It's about struggling for years to find peace and wholeness; Feeling like a failure despite seeming to have it all together. Never getting what I wanted, I was blind to the fact that what I tied myself to mattered. My life was running me. A heart-rending near death experience should have shown me life had a greater purpose than mere personal happiness. But soon, I was right back to reckless behavior, straying even farther. Life became too much. Too hard. Too abusive. Too lonely. I was broken. One September night in 2001, I took a good long look in the mirror, and examined the person I had become. I thought about the person I once wanted to be in life and, like glass, I shattered into a million pieces. What I found on the other side of my brokenness, however, was life. Danene lives her dream life on a quiet lake in Southwest Michigan. A true hippie minimalist, she cast off everything that no longer suited her, and is content living alone, with her chatty cat Timone. She is Mom to a beautiful, talented, self-sufficient daughter. Danene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Michigan University, and a Master of Education degree from Aquinas College.
