When all seems lost and our hope is dwindling, we must trust in the Lord to deliver us through our period of waiting. As we wait for answers from the Lord, we learn to keep our faith in a God that is faithful, and when we cannot see His hand working, we learn to always trust His loving heart.
In The Long Waiting, Ann Tucker discusses stories from the historical days of the Bible, along with stories of individuals from the current day, where biblical characters have endured times of praying and find themselves in a period of waiting. Even when the days and nights seem unending, still they wait, drawing strength from the words of Jesus when He said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20). Although we cannot always see Him working, He never leaves us alone.
Tucker has spent many years in ministry and listened to many stories of wonderful people who faced the long valley of waiting for answers from God. She felt that by combining stories from the past and stories from today, we could draw strength in knowing that our God is faithful and will come in His own time, which is always the right time. Inspired by biblical stories and stories from friends and family members whose faith had been tested, Tucker quickly realized they all had one thing in common-they had to wait. But there's a Scripture for that:
They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31
