Brunner reaches his steak-grilling, tennis-playing arms far out there, in hopes of grabbing readers who probably don't often go to church, don't have a biblical or religious background, and who strongly doubt if God can matter in their lives. Michael was born in Austin, Texas and spent all his youth growing up in the Texas Hill Country. After graduating from college with a degree in business, Michael became an officer in the United States Marine Corps. Once his tour of duty was completed, he found his way back to Texas, and began his business career in Houston. While there, he met his wife Stephanie, and they have 4 children; Haley, Hope, Hannah, and Holly. In addition to working, Michael has been a bible teacher for over 25 years. When he is not working and teaching, Michael plays a lot of tennis, and believes that, at 63, his best tennis is in front of him. Michael is passionate about college football, likes to fish, will barbeque anything he can fit on his grill, and is currently debating on whether or not to reunite with golf (he divorced the game in 2003).
