Author Ren Vandesteeg sees few things as important in today's church than combating Biblical illiteracy. While many do not read the Bible as they feel it can't be understood, Vandesteeg faces that challenge head-on using the very scriptures that are often thought a mystery in his new book God's Plan: Eliminate Biblical Ignorance.
"Unfortunately, many people in today's culture - including churchgoers - do not know what the Bible says or how to apply it in 2018," says Vandesteeg. "My goal is to change that and to help people see that the Bible is more relevant to their lives than ever."
Using the Bible itself, Vandesteeg creates a path that transforms the mystery of the Scriptures into an exciting revelation ready to be applied to every reader's personal life. And best of all, Vandesteeg presents his case in a manner that draws people together, regardless of denominational affiliation.
Born in the Netherlands and raised in Southern California, Vandesteeg is a graduate of Calvin College and Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a retired pastor of the Christian Reformed Church. After pastoring for five years, Vandesteeg served in the Air Force as a chaplain and retired as a Colonel after twenty-five years. He and his wife, Carol, have two sons.
