1GOALS FOR THIS BREVIARY AND THIS EVANGELISM COURSE are first, to argue and celebrate that evangelism is more than a set of techniques. Holy evangelism for a sacramental faith such as ours is a spiritual practice that is more than talking or extroversion. Evangelism is, first and foremost, the work of the Holy Spirit. Evangelists are people who, through spiritual practices and imagination, join God's work of reconciling and redeeming all of creation. Second, our course aims to broaden the readers' imagination for who is called to be an evangelist. (Everyone!) Evangelists, like all Christians, are formed, not born. God can use any person to demonstrate truth, no matter who they are or what they know. However, faith formation is essential for any evangelist to grow in knowledge, joy, power, love and hope. Third, this Breviary and course will introduce readers to a variety of sources to deepen faith and thereby form disciples in whom the Holy Spirit can speak to others. Deepening faith and spiritual practice is how we join the Holy Spirit and become a font of Good News. Ans lastly, this Breviary and this course aim to introduce readers to the Daily Office, ancient voices in our tradition, and ways to reflect on the journey with Christ that inspire evangelism. Daily we will engage popular epic literature and films and connect that inspiration to Christian faith in order to form and fire-up a sacramental and evangelistic imagination.
