At the start of the Easter school holidays, Alex wants nothing more than to forget the world, grab his skateboard and head to the park - and maybe stuff his face with Easter eggs. These plans are put on hold, however, when Alex is forced into looking after Vinnie, a German shepherd owned by his Auntie Elsie and her gruff, shady 'gentleman friend' Ron. There's just one problem with this: Alex is terrified of Vinnie and being eaten by a hellhound was not on his list of things to do today.
Whilst his Aunt Elsie goes off to raise funds to save the soon-to-be-demolished community centre, Alex hopes that his own house won't be the next victim in a series of local burglaries, tries to navigate the social space between his school bully and his school crush, help his tech-whizz friend try out his new dog-translation app, and that's all before he gets a call from Ron, telling him to bring a suspicious bag with tools, torch and ski mask to a residential street straight away ...
It is going to be a very long day for Alex.
