The Student's Book explains possession ("Ivan has a bike," "Maria has a computer"); keeps going with numbers; shows how to count money and tell how much everything costs; covers how to speak about the human body and doctor's appointments and about food and cooking, and explains how to say "playing football" and "playing the guitar." "Soroka: Russian for Kids" was created for children ages 7 through 9 who are learning Russian for the first time. This course is suitable for speakers of all languages. Each of the three levels have a Student's Book, Activity Book and Teacher's Book that complement each other.
The direct method of teaching, which is based on the oral approach, makes learning more fun and comfortable as there is no need to study grammar rules specifically and then see how they work in practice. In the course, we work in a totally different way: We don't learn the names of the cases or things such as that; instead, we take ready-made phrases and learn how to apply them in speech. We immediately see the use of words and phrases and analyze them with examples later, if necessary.
For students and teachers, the course provides free audio recordings where mini-dialogs spoken by Russian native speakers can be heard. Also, there are methodical recommendations on how to work with the audio files.
The course is appropriate for parents who want to teach their kids the Russian language independently, as well as for organizations that conduct group classes in weekend schools, study groups, and so on.
