6This memoir is meant to depict the honest memories of a man who grew up gay during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s; got married, had children, and remained in the closet for 55 years. It is not meant to blame, offend, preach or express opinions as to what is right or wrong for anyone except for the writer. It is meant to be an honest depiction of the writer's thoughts and experiences throughout his life and how growing up gay and in the closet in the Southern area of the United States affected his life and those he loved. It is hoped that those who read this memoir will gain insight, inspiration, or a better understanding of what it means to be gay, to live in the closet and then to be set free to live a life of honesty with himself and others.
