The book consists of eight chapters, divided into smaller subchapters, starting with Sholem Aleichem's first chapter and concluding with Motl's family's departure to America. Each of the subchapters has a Yiddish-English glossary, and a cumulative glossary follows the text at the end of the reader. Each of the subchapters is also accompanied by exercises, geared both to comprehension and to practicing the new vocabulary and grammar of the lesson. The book is chock-full of many wonderful pictures, done by well-known Motl illustrators of the past. The skilled hand of experienced and creative educators is evident throughout.
