From a tender age, she endured innumerable surgeries due to her heart condition and, later, she fought through the many struggles associated with marriage, love, divorce, loss... and a miracle baby that they said wasn't possible. Yet it was those very challenges that ultimately drove her to start her own business-a business that now helps others to recover from such experiences.

Surviving and thriving with a chronic illness that almost took her life several times, Karen has always found ways to transform her health challenges into learning opportunities. And this means she is never afraid of jumping out of an airplane (not once, but three times!) or repelling off a forty-story building in Hawaii.

And they said she would only have twelve hours to live after one of her major surgeries! Clearly, her twelve hours aren't up yet.
